Guess who’s the birthday girl today? :)

It’s still hard to fathom that another year has gone by and that it’s that time of the year again…my birthday. I’m still in my 20s but I just refuse to get any older, so today I’m turning another year younger ;)
Last year, I made my own birthday cupcakes, truffle brownie cupcakes with cookie dough frosting. They were the most decadent and rich cupcakes I’ve ever made. I now call them my guilty pleasure cupcake…I mean brownie and cookie dough together, match made in heaven! Check out the recipe here!
Over the weekend, we had my pre-bday celebrations! We kicked the weekend with date night Friday! Sushi and beer, our favorite!
The next day, we started the day early and enjoyed doughnuts from our National Doughnut Day swap :)
We spent the day with his family, napped, and had Porto’s for dinner!! We bbq’ed and I found a new way to enjoy a hot dog :)
Every time we visit his family, I try to sneak in a trip to Porto’s. I believe Porto’s is a Southern California/LA chain; it’s a Latin American cafe and bakery. Their food is yummy!
I tried the guava smoothie for the first time and it has now become my favorite drink! It is so refreshing! Definitely a must get if you ever get to venture to Porto’s :)
The rest of the weekend was spent lounging and relaxing :)
Anyhoo, I can’t wait for the week to come to an end and the weekend to start! I’m looking forward to my post-day bday celebrations with my mister!!

ahem, hellooo? is thing still on….?

It’s been forever and I can’t even remember the last time I popped in! Work has been consuming my life. No complaining from me! I actually enjoy work and I love my job! I’ve also been down with the flu this week, thank you work cooties… :). And the weather! Oh my gosh, the weather! It’s finally feeling like the holidays! We had our first official rain this week and it felt so nice bundling in a coat and scarf!
Anyhoo, the boyfriend and I finally got to spend some much needed time bf+gf time and spent the day in LA. If you guys ever need recommendations in the LA area, ask him! He knows all the coolest spots! Me, on other hand, I’m an OC girl so I’m not much help lol.
We headed to the Beverly Center to hit up the Bloomie’s friends and family sale! After working hard and saving for a month and a half, I finally splurged and purchased the bag that’s been on my “wish list” ever since our Euro-trip back in 2010. It’s a beautiful roomy bag and perfect for all my working girl needs :).

Afterwards, we drove around and found this little gem!

The lines at Pink’s may be long, but it’s so worth the wait! The chili cheese dog was yummy! The New York dog wasn’t what I expected but it was still good!

someone brought in cupcakes at work! it was perfect for the girl with the flu who was bundled in a coat and scarf during lunch :)

This was one of my Christmas presents! Meet my Babycakes Cupcake Maker! She’s red, flashy, and gorgeous!
I love that Babycakes includes the super cute mini cupcake liners, icing bag, four decorating tips, pie crust tools, and two 2-pronged forks. This cupcake maker is awesome because it can be used for so many purposes! Not only meant for cupcakes, but it can also make pies, cupcakes, brownies, empanadas, and many types of appetizers. The non-stick coating on this works really well. It’s so easy taking out whatever you’re making! But be careful, the machine is hot!!
My only problem with the gadget is that the red/green light indicator makes it difficult to tell if it’s done baking. If Babycakes were to update this product, I hope they improve this one flaw. Aside from that, just be sure to keep your eye on it!
So what’s the first thing I made with my new cupcake??? PIES hahaha! :)
